Renewable energy is a passion of ours and in 2010 REsource Living, a community organisation, was set up to inspire and educate about sustainable power and living techniques. The solar power system is housed in the fire engine as a showcase of a typical domestic off grid system. We love nothing better than talking about the system and renewable energy in general.
Workshops can be offered either for children as described on the Education page or adults, such as a talk about the firetruck power system or more in-depth topics on off grid renewables. We have produced info leaflets about building your own off grid power system, focusing on solar and wind for now.
Typically the power system will run a small stage, traders and any production needs. More unusually the power system has run chair-o-planes, an ice cream van, gyroscope ride and recently a battery pack for a heart pump!
We have powered community events for Beautiful Bassetlaw Festival of Community Arts and Rhayder Transition Town Green Fair as well as powering a small stage at Redbridge Green Fair in London.
